HAIR in exhaust pipe

I have a 2009 F150 Lariat. Bought it new and has about 40,000 miles on it.Went to drive this morning and noticed about 3 feet of what looked like thick silver hair extensions sticking out of exhaust. I pulled that out wondering if neighbor sabotoged. Then this evening after checking exhaust first, drove about 40 miles and noticed same hair looking stuff hanging out. This time I pulled out about 15-20 feet of Hair. The truck seems to run great as always. The onboard computer did say 19 mpg's, a little higher than norma, l but I put mid grade gas in it since price dropped. X-mas present for the truck.
Craziest thing, anybody know what it means????

My only guess would be some type of baffling or sound-deadening type of stuff from a muffler or resonator. I've heard of this type of thing happening with the fiberglass packing that is used in various resonators. Might be best to have a shop or dealer take a look and switch out the muffler, resonator, or CAT, whichever is loosing it's "hair"

I'd keep the material though. It might help the dealer track down where it's coming from.

Probably some of the packing material....hopefully the through pipe/baffle didn't break a weld(s) inside the muffler and become dislodged...

Looks like a witches wig?

Fish it out with a coat hanger.

I know the 2010+ trucks used packing in the muffler. Might have used it further back though. Did it look similar to this?

Yep that is it. Muffler just ran out of warranty with 40K miles on it. Dealership told me the Cat converter would have been covered for 80K.

I'd put on a large oval body magna flow or Borla muffler if you want to replace it and don't want a loud exhaust. Something 22+" long

It really doesn't sound any louder, I thought it would.
Think I will just let it ride for a while.
