custom intake

This may be dumb and ridiculous, but I was bored at work and got to thinking, is it possible to run a PVC pipe from air filter box to intake manifold? Just lookin to get away from the baffles on stock. Wouldn't mind a little extra noise under the hood. Don't wanna spend the big bucks on a manufacturer cai. If its totally ridiculous let me know, thanks

not sure about that. haven't messed with anything newer than an 03. I know the gotts mod went through 1997 to now, but the intake tube is something im not sure about.

Yea I just want a clean straight pipe look. Maybe a little extra noise that sounds good would be a plus.

No, this is going to screw up the MAF metering.

I've done the Gotts mod on my 07 4.2. So I know that it can be done on something newer than an '03! haha... Also I see that you're local. If you choose to go the Gotts mod route and you need help (not that it's really complicated..) feel free to let me know.

I think he's talking about from the filter box to the throttle body. Not the fender to the box.

Exactly. Just want to get rid of those "mufflers" and have a clean look. If maf sensor stays in same spot what would cause it to misread?

Some things just should not be played with too much. At least with an aftermarket company's kit, if it isn't user error, they will be able to aid help in remedying a problem due to MAF issues.

It's about keeping it in the same diameter housing, or else you will need a tune...

As long as you are capable of ensuring all the vacuum lines are hooked back up like stock and the MAF housing stays the same size you'll be fine, just make sure you do a nice write up for others
