How to quiet down intake?

I installed a cold air intake on my 2004 F150 5.4L (AEM Brute Force). It has the polished aluminunm tube and when i really get on the gas it is a noisy bugger. I know it is installed right and doing its job, but was wondering if there are any tricks to quiet it down a bit. When it is under load like towing my trailer or going up a hill with the air on it sounds like the truck is doing mach 10, but obviously not.

I was thinking about wrapping the tube in dynomat or something, but not sure if this will cause any negative impacts. Any suggestions or tricks???

Anotger downfall of an aftermarket open filter intake, noise. Not really much you can do except get custom tuned for it.

Put the stock intake tube back on, install an oem style K&N and do the gotts mod. Then sell your AEM on ebay.

Put the stock intake back on, including an OEM paper filter. Sell the AEM.

These guys speak the truth! I've been there with a K&N cold air kit. I finally got tired of the noise and reinstalled my oem intake with a drop in K&N filter.

Want to buy a used CAI cheap?

More great info here. Glad I found this before forking out $$$$$ for a CAI. I read how to do the Gotts Mod but my question is do you have to do a custom tune after the mod due to increased airflow as I don't have a custom tuner yet? Second question is what does the modd gain you by increasing the air flow?

Sorry that is the down side of an intake change. Part of the lowered lb/min at the MAS on the factory one, is the design to keep it quiet it down. The part about getting a tune for it, is not going to change the sound. Don't know if the AEM is like the Airaid in not requiring a tune to run it.

Your MY truck ( '03 and older ) does not require a tune for any intake modifications.
Did not do any data logging on your series of 5.4, but the v3 5.4, I only got a 6% increase in lb/min and it was not linear over the range.
The data logging I did on my '01 I went from factory to K&N FPIK to DIY version as the final.
