Looking at Headers

Hello, I have a 01 Screw 4X4 with the 5.4, I am looking at getting OBX longtube headers, I already have 2.5inch true dual exhaust (bent and installed myself). I want to get just the headers, I will not be running any cats. I know I will lose a little bit of performance, but I don't have to worry about emissions and I have never liked having cats on any of my vehicles, therefore they are removed. Does anyone know where I can get just the headers without the resonators? And at the best price? Has anyone had any issues with leaks using these headers? What gaskets do you guy's recommend? Thanks

i'm not seeing anything from obx other than the cat/resonator kits. pacesetter sells just the headers. or you can get the obx with resonator kit and just cut the flange off the resonator

I'm running obx long tubes with resonators(no cats). Good quality, sound good, and very reasonably priced. What's not to like? I think the pacesetters are either painted. Which I don't see being very durable or ceramic coated which if I remember correctly almost or actually does doubles the price. I would go with the Obx even if you have to modify them.

How about Pacesetter longtubes? I would like the ceramic coated ones, but is there something I could get to better coat the black painted ones and save myself a few bucks? What about gasket recommendations? Thanks guys

I stripped the cheap black paint off with spay on stripper and got a couple of cans of VHT flame proof header paint its a silica-ceramic coating 1300-2000*F. After you spray it you have to put it through a couple of heat cycles that I done by running the motor and it has not pealed or chipped off yet.

It will run like a beast if you get custom tuned. Running no cats hurts if they are just hacked out. However, if you get tuned to run that setup, especially with LTs, it will be angered awesome.

As far as the 97-03 trucks go, OEM Ford steel gaskets are the best you can run bar none. They are more expensive but seal 100%, don't blow out, and can be reused. Right in line after that would be Felpro's.

So something like this part # at napa for the gaskets: FPG MS92568. BobFinnel - how did that VHT work? How much of it did you need to do both headers and how many coats? Where is the cheapest place to buy these headers?
