header gaskets and bolts?
as for the flange thats the best way to do it w/o getting to involved. advance sold a part that would clamp on to the y pipe and then go over the header flange and then pull together with bolts... but its pretty ghetto and you get what you pay for. i did it on by beater subaru and it laster a while, i didnt wanna spend any money on a $100 car...
hey did you have a problem with your egr? i did. the fittin on the headers and the throttle body were both a female one and the brandy new one from the parts store was one with a male and female fixins. so i had to chop off the new male one and the old male one, fill em with weld to close it off and plugged both holes. CEL isnt on yet but i expect it to be before inspection time...
also it quieted down cab noise drastically, i could also see thru my old manifolds, but for sound it made my old cat back sound terrible. its like the air is fighting to get out of it now and way to "dodgey" if you know what i mean by that and kind of lost its tone. i think because the air is getting out faster by my headers and cats then hitting my slowmaster and slowing down. when stock manifolds were on it wasnt goin to fast so it was alright
however i did notice a nice low end improvement, the egr was hangin on and all that air pushin out the cracks wasnt helping, overall the seat of the pants dyno went up! i got a great seat of the pants feeling because i operate cranes and i have too, that is afterall where the saying came from...

I'm not understanding this thread much..(?) Why are you guys giving love to JBA shorties? Has something changed ? Someone find power in a set ? If so, that's big enough news to warrant a Dyno run IMO. - I need to see this lol.
The Dyno has always showed absolute "0" improvement against factory comparison. So what gives ? LT's are close, in cost comparison. High Flows are free, - in fact you make a little money swapping your OEM cats for High Flows.. Unless again, something has drastically changed.
No tunes needed for LT's. It's the cheapest 30 HP/ 35 Torque upgrade you'll ever find for that engine.. That would be power you actually feel that begins just above idle.
Unless something has drastically changed, - shorties were never worth the effort. Hell LT's can be had dirt cheap. Yea, I don't come around the exhaust forum much, - so clue me in , what's up ?
I used the Pacesetter gaskets (the cheap looking things) and surprisingly, they have leaked, not even a little since 07.
BUT, I also made sure I had "0" stress on thge system before I welded the sytem solid and replaced the trans mount. Yea the treans mounts should be replaced around 100,000 miles. If they're not, you'll loose your dampening and eventually have all sorts of issues.
Just curious fellas.

They r not a major improvement. but over the stock manifolds that I could see through on both sides with an egr not even attached it is an improvement. Plus with the money and time I had before inspection, with a four six four wd, it was my option. I didn't have time to cut apart that pass side long tube and weld it up before sticker time. I also had planned on keeping my highflows where they were. Now that I hear how it sounds I should have redone the whole thing and went with out te inspection. There are plenty of real criminals out there for rem to bother with me.
yeah i know all you guys love your long tube headers, but not all of us WANT those. i just wanted the shorties for an exact bolt up replacement. and yes Polaris the problem i had with my EGR was that it was so rotted he had to replace it haha. but it made my dynomax bullet louder and more healthier sounding i think. low end was def improved (most noticeable) as well as better throttle response. i just want the da^# leaks to be fixed hopefully i get good news tuesday lol
I had a new egr and it didn't bolt up. I could have gotten the adapter but corking it was faster. Egr delete code coming when I get custom over canned tunes. Php is closed so I can't order those yet. Prolly after the 4.10 swap. That'll make it quicker off the line. Plus I will be able to pull my trailers easier. It's only a 4.6.
My egr was rotted off. Was years ago I just redneck fixed it.
