Closed or open

I'm thinking about getting an intake. Should I get closed or open air box. Also any ideas of what intake?

^^^ note ^^^

Hi.

Why do you want one? For looks? Because if yer looking fer perf, look elsewhere.

Note that you will also need to add an additional $400 for a custom-tuned flash programmer, as most any aftermarket unit will affect your MAF in a negative way and require correction.

CAI/WAI/WASHOOBI's are simply put, a waste of $$$ on a stock, N/A truck. The stocker flows enough air already. However, if you must have the bling, go ahead as long as you tune for it.

And yes - Closed. S&B make a nice-lookin' unit. Avoid K&N. Crap. Avoid Sphincter. Also crap. Avoid ANY no-name unit. And Avoid Volant like the plague - utter garbage, and they are shady fellers to boot. Any intake that actually hurts power by laying down above 4,000 rpm is not something I'd consider investing in

Well MGD hit it all but I put my vote in for a closed box as open ones just suck the hot air in from the engine bay... the closed boxes suck it in from the fender which is cooler than the engine bay

As does the stock intake. Save your money and do a Gotts.

Another vote for the GOTTs mod. It's easy, cheap, and I did notice a small improvement in performance. Biggest improvements came after exhaust. Best of all no risk of damaging your motor.
