Is this aftermarket?

I've been reading a bit, and figured I'd look to see what it'd take to do the "GOTTS mod" for my intake, however, when I looked under the hood, what I found is completely different from *EVERY* post I've located in here...

Is the intake/tube that's on there an aftermarket? I have a 2005 F150 XLT with the 4.2l V6. In all the threads I've seen, I've never seen the intake in the picture above on ANY of the pictures you guys have posted of your own trucks...

Then it seems I'm stuck going aftermarket for a CAI, should I decide to do that. I don't see how I could increase the size of the tube that goes into the inner fender with that design...

One thing I had always wondered though -- is it the intake that causes the whistling sound (sounds *almost* like there's a turbo under the hood, though I know there isn't), or is it something else under the hood creating it? Its pitch changes with motor RPM's. It's *really* noticeable at city speeds, but I can't hear it at all on the highway.

Hey michrech, let me know when you find out where that TURBO sound is coming from. My 95 F150 is doing that too!!! Thanks.

The sound your hearing is the increased air flow being sucked into the motor.

Gotts with this?

With the taper that's on this box, how do you do the Gotts mod to it?
