LT Headers

Hi guys im new to the forum and ive been looking around the site for a couple weeks now learning some new stuff. I read through the exhaust guide posted (very well written) and have basically figured out what i wanna do with my exhaust. To start out i have a 2000 5.4l 2 wheel drive. All stock (excluding my sound system). I figure the exhaust and a tuner are the best places for me to start. The only thing im getting ALOT of mixed opinions on is the brand of headers. Ive decided to go with LTs. That was easy to decide but i understand that alot of brands have different materials, angles, sizes, etc. Im looking at gains in MPG and a little extra power. Sound wise im looking for low rumble, something that won't drone on the highway, and i dont want super loud. I will be changing my truck over to true duels. Im leaning towards 2.25 pipe, and the x crossover. Magnaflow hi flow cats and magnaflow mufflers, and probably 3 in tips straight out to round off the truck. Any input on headers (or the rest of the exhaust) is welcome and thanks again guys.

You can contact OBX themselves for their most reputable dealer.

I myself would choose the Dynatech catted LT kit if I was to get headers for the quality, reputation, and t-304 stainless build.

What a member told me. Plus the dynotechs is thicker then the obx.

The OBX LT headers are great but the clamps and collector bolts are less than desired. If I had known exactly what I was getting into and if I had the extra cash I would have gone Dynatech, but overall I'm happy with the OBX headers.

a few nuts bolts and clamps does not add up to $700. I have had mine on for 3.5 years and over 65,000 miles haven't had a problem. I have also had every piece of it apart at least twice now. I had to replace 2 clamps at $3 each when I took it apart last year to do the trans.

Thicker metal and better quality. Don't get me wrong obx makes a very nice set of headers. But it's not exactly the same.

You might as well ask how long your trans is going to last. It could fail tomorrow maybe not for another 10 years. I can tell you one thing for sure. I am probably harder on my truck than almost anyone else on here that still uses it as a daily driver at times. If a weld cracks I'll tack it up, if a primary rusts through I replace that. I've been more than happy with my purchase and most are. more expensive does not make any better.

Well that's good man. I don't doubt obx makes a good header and I might go with them. By no means am I bashing there brand. Just think dynotech is better for me. Cause it's alot of work putting headers on a 04/08 trucks lol. So I'm just buying the best set of headers I can get that will outlast the truck. I will be also buying the 8 grade header bolts. If my tranny fails it will get replaced with a better one. I kinda want to jack a 6 speed off a 2010. Wonder if it would fit. Lol. Sorry going off topic.
