ROR not loud enough...

Hey guys I just recently joined the forum, I have the Roush off road on my '06 with the 5.4l. I was very impressed with how throaty it is, was not expecting a sido to sound this good but... it just isn't loud enough. I'm thinking high flow cats may be the most cost effective fix, I can handle some drone but don't want my head to blow up, what do you guys suggest.

magnaflow 94106 cats. Go to performancepeddler.com and use the discount code "clubgp".

End of discussion.

high flow cats. they make a huge differnce. not sure how they will affect drone. i had a good bit of drone with flowmasters and none at all with straights. but them cats will wake your truck up pretty good

I have the ROR split rear. I know when I added OBX LT headers with their high flows it made the exhaust sound like total and complete crap. I'd have used the other word but no cursing allowed.

I had to add another Borla muffler in line muffler to make it sound better.

Thanks for the replies, I kind of was already leaning toward the 94106 cats cuz everybody and their brother seems to have good luck with them. Hey stealth I gotta say that I know they always sound different in person, but over my computer speakers your long tube-ROR setup sounded sweet. thanks again for the input fellas.

What's involved in swapping the cats? Is it just a simple cut off the stocker's and weld up the maggie's? Anything else need to be done?

o2 bungs need to be welded in directly behind the new cats.

Good catch on the video darren, i'm surprised I didnt come across that one in my you tube travels. Sounds alittle lounder at idle and slightly throatier than with the ROR and stock cats, hard to tell for sure on the computer. I actually considered true dual bullets like your old truck, but keep stock cats to keep the drone down some, but wasn't sure if that would be any louder than the ROR with stock cats.

I'm in the same predicament as scary........ I think I may do this swap

I would have to buy the new o2 bungs right?

And I read some time before that you could sell the cats for damn near the same amount?

hey pockets, we have the same truck minus the fog lights. Yes you would have to instal new 02 bungs immediatly after the high flow cats. I still haven't decided what i'm going to do... I want it louder and maybe alittle more aggressive than it is now with just the roush off road that I have, but without causing insane drone. The ROR has almost no drone at all. It's kinda ridiculous that my 99' explorer with the 5.0 has all four stock cats true dual using a magnaflow crossflow muffler is noticeably louder than my truck which only has two stock cats and that tiny 10" ROR muffler. Any more suggestions from the exhaust gurus would be much appreciated. Oh and just for reference my idea of too much drone is my mustang which has long tubes, no cats, and original 40 series flows.
