How much are old cats worth for scrap??
I called several scrap yards. One said $40-$50 for each one. One said about $15 for each one. One said they would have to see them to give me a number. New magnaflow high flow cats only cost $55 so It's almost an even swap. It's worth paying an extra $10 or so for high flows
I wish I would have done that with mine and not let the guy "dispose" of them as well
I asked my local scrap yard this the last time I was there. They only pay $5 per cat due to not knowing what the catalyst material is and also because they can't tell if they've been stolen or not.
Glad to hear what they sell for, maybe yall know this already, but cats contain a tiny layer of platinum. Hence, they're worth a little bit of $
hrrmmm... That's why the "platinum" edition truck is so expensive

I got $128 for the cats off the 2001 f150 I parted out.
I you scrap a complete vehicle first remove alternator, starter, cats, radiator.
these parts add very little wait 30 to 75 pounds, but can get you another $150 -$200.
this is the scrap $$$ list for my local scrap yard.
I got $380 for the truck body less (engine, trans, rear axle, rims/tires) then got another $128 for the cats.

The precious metals in the cats are platinum, paladium and some have rhodium. There are several other metals but those are the three metals that make the cats worth what they are when discarded. Good luck keeping the cats from the shop. Most of them quote you with them keeping the cats. I'm sure the price goes up if you insist on keeping the old cats.
