Question Supercharged 5.4, looking at true duels - advice?

I've got an '05 F150 Supercrew w/ a Magna Charged 5.4. I've currently got a Magnaflow cat-back 2-1/2" SIDO, exiting before the rear wheels - PN 16616 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=all&id=4485).

I'm going to true duels with my blown application. I like the current exhaust exit, and I'm trying to do this as cost-effectively as possible. So I was considering having a local muffler shop fab a custom Y-pipe into a Magnaflow X-pipe 2-1/2" PN 10791(http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9482) going into two round 4" x 18" Magnaflow mufflers PN 10426 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8996).

I originally considered the Magnaflow DIDO muffler PN 12465 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9079), but word on the street is that set-up suffers from excessive drone, particularly at highway speeds.

I like the sound of my current set-up, it's just not giving me the flow I need for my boosted truck. I'm not looking to get appreciably louder or obnoxious, just a nice smooth tone. I'd like to stick with Magnaflow if at all possible.

Anybody have any experience or suggestions for a true duel set-up? Thanks!

The 12465 will drone as it is to small. Go with the magnaflow 12568. It is a larger muffler and doesn't drone. I am very pleased with mine. Take a look at my pics and you will find an exhaust album.

Sorry - for clarification, I meant modify my stock Y-pipe, in order to install the X-pipe.

Just looked at your album, and it looks like we're taking the same steps to accomplish the same mission. I was curious how the 12568 with 5.75" centers for the pipes would work with your existing tips...now I know. Thanks!

You don't modify the stock y pipe. You remove it completely and install the x pipe in it's place.

^^^ Exactly like that, Beautiful.

The drone if going to be even worse with the 4" rounds no matter what length they are, compared to the oval. The oval body that twinskrewd posted may satisfy your sound preferences, well taken from a fellow blown truck guy.

Glad to be of some help. Do some googling of that muffler. You can find them as cheap as $99-119.

One of the reasons I looked at the Magnaflow 12465 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9079) was because the 2-1/2" pipes were 4" centerline to centerline, which would have made for a nice plumb installation.

In looking at the Magnaflow 12465, those pipes are 5.75" centerline to centerline. So I was looking at this X-pipe 10781 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9484) that might give me a little more flexibility in installation. Any pros or cons?

From what I've found, Amazon even beats sites like www.performancepeddler.com for all kinds of stuff, even Magnaflow. Thanks for the input.

Either will work fine. Btw it hasn't come up yet but make sure you have all mandrel bends. Anything else will be a waste. Its not as big deal on a NA truck but your boosted and flowing a hellva lot more air. A normal pipe bend can rob you of a signifigant flow and hp. Not to mention creating a huge uneveness in flow between bank one and two.
