CAI+edge
CAI+edge
i have an 05 lifted f150 and i already have the edge programmer and 4.56 gears and im about to add the K&n CAI is there and problems im going to run into or what i shoyuld look for? Also how easy is the install of the CAI? thx
Since the 04s and 05s came from the factory in a near lean condition, you run a high risk of causing it to run lean. That can do serious damage. really not worth the risk for the 6 or so HP you get from a CAI. The Edge is programmed for stock intakes, so if you have to get a CAI, the best way to avoid trouble as well as get 14 or so HP out of the CAI is to convert to the Gryphon with a custom tune.

Check out PHP. A lot of guys have their tunes and absolutely love them. Be warned though, the turn around time for the tunes can be quite lengthy but most say they are worth the wait.
If you don't want to go that route, look into doing the Gott's mod. It's cheap, easy, just as effective as a CAI and it won't cause you to run lean.

I just installed my edge. Already had a roush CAI, when I had the Roush CAI my truck ran lean for a couple days or startups, I unplugged the battery every time it ran lean and it stopped after 5 minutes of having the battery terminal unhooked. The computer on my truck relearned the intake and my truck doesn't run lean anymore. I don't have custom tunes but I would like some.
