whistling intake?

Installed a k&n intake on 06 5.4 and it has a high pitched whistling sound. This is not the wooshing sound at wot which I like. I don't mind at all that its louder than stock. Just wondering if anyone else has similar issue? It is loudest between 1500-1900 rpm and then disappears above 2000. A friend said maybe the vacuum lines. I will be investigating/reinstalling tonight to see if I can rid of the annoying whistle. Let me know if u have any suggestions. I don't have programmer installed yet but will Monday but I don't think that will affect the whistle.

Does it whistle all the time or only if it's cold out?

Does it go away once the truck is warmed up?

Well that blows. Still going to see if giving it a thorough check tonight will find anything unusual. Will update if I find anything.

same here man. K&N Open air filter kit and at light throttle whistle noise. it was very noticeable when I first got the truck but now it seems to be less noticeable, probably just me adjusting to it.

I also did try and re-clean the K&N filter and the whole bit, even after that it still made the noise.

Wellsir, Serves y'all right fer dissing the painstakingly-designed, quietly efficient, cool-running, but exceedingly butt-ugly, stock intake

My AF1 NEVER whistled! The only whistling goin' on, was me - being happy as a clam

Cutom tuning *may* alter the noise somewhat - no guarantees it won't still be unpleasant.

Sell that thang - it's not doing you much good anyway. Invest those $$ in some custom calibrations.

Bought it before I had researched about the gotts mod. Woops. There a 200 dollar mistake. Oh well. Live and learn. Getting programmer Monday and will see about custom tune pricing. Diablosport that has 87 octane Cai canned tune. Should work for now.

Doesn't the K&N intake come with a little air dam that is supposed to separate the filter from the engine bay? I use the gotts mod so I dont hear it because it is blocked by the filter cover.

Little is the key word there. The design seems a little flawed. It partially blocks it from the engine bay. On a side note what's the easiest way to post pics in a reply. I'd walk my *** out there and take a pic on the phone but haven't figured out how to easily load pics. Still relatively new so forgive me in advance.

Think I may have figured how to post pic. Plastic engine bay blocker doesn't quite all the way go to front of engine bay.

Just till Monday. I hope it shall survive. Are the 06s really that prone to issues. Haven't heard any pinging and haven't had any lean codes. The programmer comes Monday. Valentines day (which the lady shall not know about) so I hope I'm okay till then. Have warranty if not. Haha. diablosport with Cai canned tune. Easy there fellas us ex gm owners aren't used to these lean issues. Although I had a 99 2wd v6 in the past. Went Yukon then tacoma then sierra now back to f150. Gonna keep this one.
