Anyone using an Airade intake tube with the high flow filer with the stock airbox?

Got a 2004 with 5.4, looking at the Airade modular intake tube (part number 400-740) it has a high flow filter that inserts into the stock air-box. Anyone got one? Any performance/gpm improvements? Hows the noise, cruising and accelerating?

Most of us have figured out the warmer-air-than-stock-under-the-hood-bling intakes are worthless (except for bling).

If you do decide to waste your money, don't install it until you have a custom tune.

I think Stealth has one.

I had the same setup on 2 different F150's with the 5.4.

I liked the way it gets air from behind the headlamp area.

No codes, or drone, better throttle response, and a bit more on the WOT.

Can't say about fuel mileage. On my 2005 with an EDGE tuner, Flowmaster 50 SI/DO, and the Airaid setup, I got the same fuel mileage as stock. I did have one size bigger tires that probably wiped out any fuel mileage gains.

For me it's just a cleaner looking setup vs stock.

You are misunderstanding him I think... it just replaces the intake from the air box to fender. It's not a CAI... it's like the factory elbow if it's like the one's I've seen. Air raid jr I think?

I have an Airaid MIT and a K/N drop-in. I'm custom tuned as well.

I am using the AirRaid Jr. and a k&n drop-in, edge evo, and exhaust. Mpg stayed relatively the same but you notice an increase on WOT. It does clean up the engine bay some and its not an eye sore... With what I have done I ran a 10.2 in the 1/8 mile in my 04 5.4L screw...

Thanks for all the input.

I was doing some looking around in the site and came across the "gotts" mod. I think I may try it as I like the quietness of the truck as it is...

I'm in the same situation. I like the idea of a cheap intake mod that won't throw codes. I might get one for my truck since a few people seem to have had negative experiences with the Gotts mod on some of the newer 5.4s.

I figure the MIT will probably make a little extra noise because it gets rid of all the baffles, but not as much as one of the "bling" kits.

Does it go into the fender or just curve out towards the headlight? The pictures I see don't go into the fender but I thought they did?

Just to be clear...if you want quiet, don't go "Gotts", the MIT and K&N drop in are a quieter combo than the Gotts. I like my MIT alot better.

It fits up to an opening to the inside of the headlight...

I have the MIT and love it.

You hear the engine just slightly more than stock and it sounds great. It's probably no more open than the gotts mod but looks alot better IMO.

The biggest improvement was the throttle response.

As far as noise, I actually started to do the gotts mod and pulled the cone out that went into the fender. Thats the part that is restricted.
I ran the truck for awhile without the cone and noticed the better throttle response right away. I was actually expecting to hear the engine better. Ive had other vehicles that when just opening the air intake a little bit gives you a similar sound of a 4 barrel carburetor kicking in. This didnt have that.

So I took the entire tube off and ran it like that expecting more sound but it was exactly the same.

I guess the only way to get the full sound is a full CAI but after reading of problems I went with the MIT.

No thrown codes at all and I think it helped MPG just slightly. My last tank wasd 16.2 MPG and the best I had before was 15.5.
