The 409 stainless steel will get surface rust on anything that is made of it according to my local exhaust shop. I have the roush system and mine looks like his headers. I have had mine since 2007 and no problems with rust other than surface. Here in Indian they salt the hell out of the roads and mine looked like those headers after the 1st winter. Nothing to worry about but it does suck after dropping that much money.

The OBX headers are top quality and T304 stainless, not 409. The saltwater is what makes the T304 get the surface rust, look at the link I posted.

I live in a non salty environment and my T304 Roush Road Exhaust hasn't rusted even a tad in the four years I've had it on my truck.

Rub some dirt on it

just give them a good clean and it'll be okay

Saltwater is a mother'fer.... BlackOut07's father and I are both in the oil and gas industry and we are required to use 317 stainless steel tubing as 316 tubing just doesn't cut it... So 309 stainless doesn't even stand a chance.

I wonder if ceramic coating would prevent rust in salt water condition...

Ceramic coatings hold up pretty well. I was just going to suggest that.

yeah i may go to a ceramic coating on my next set when I go built, but that wont be for a while anyway.

Has anyone used a certain type/brand of stainless polish on a rusted surface before that worked well? Today ill swing by a few auto stores and see what they carry as well.
