question on my exhaust

on my exhaust the significantly under did the potential on the pipe sizing.. think they used like 2 in piping with 3 in tip... very disappointed in that. thinking about going to 3 in piping with like a 3 1/2 in tips, i have the exhaust coming out at a 45 degree.. but since im going to have to tear out the whole thing anyways im looking for what my best options would be with it. do you guys think the larger pipes would add any significance to performance?
oh yeah i have an 06 5.4

First off, it would be easier to help you if we could read your post a little easier...

A 3" mid pipe will work well in a SI/SO setup. 3" for duals is too large and your torque will disappear.

What is it you are looking for?

A 5.4 is about 331 CuIn.

Not even Chrysler's Street Hemi with 426 cubes and two AFB 4bbl carbs came with dual 3" pipes. It came with 2 2.5" head pipes and smaller 2.25 tail pipes after the mufflers. Exhaust gas cools in a muffler soo it's more dense when leaving the muffler, so occupies less space, so smaller pipe keeps velocity up.

a 2 inch OD pipe (about 1.875 "ID) has about 2.761 sqr in area inside, or for two multiply by 2 and you have 5.522 total square inches internal area.

a 2.5 inch OD pipe (about 2.375 "ID) has 4.430 square inches inside it's pipe, that was stock.

a 3 inch OD pipe (about 2.875 "ID) has about 6.492 square inches inside and you want to double that to 12.984 square inches?

Your two 2 inch pipes flow better that a 2.5" pipe as is and you have lower restriction mufflers. You'll see no benifit to upsizing to two 3" pipes and the mufflers to go with them, you may even loose a little with a near otherwise stock set up, even with a tuner .... and your exhaust tone will be "fluffyier" in sound as the velocity will be greatly reduced. Exhauust temps will fall more before the mufflers and you'll see greater condensation. You'll get to pay again for a system, you'll get to pay for bigger pipes, your muffler man will like you better.

Drewcifer, I think that migdaddy was "^^^ wow" ing my post, not yours.

Before my edit, it was longer as I had just started typing and ran on with a long post. What you see is how I started it, but then I had a long answer too.

I got to thinking about it and how it "ran on" so I came back to shorten it and his "^^^ wow" was there already.
