'05 Exhaust Suggestions?

I'm looking to put a new exhaust on my truck and am looking for advise. I am NOT looking for the loudest thing around that is going to wake the neighborhood everytime I start it up (no, I'm not 18-22 years old anymore). I'm wanting a single muffler with a deep tone, dual pipes, increase in power and/or gas mileage (can I have both?). I tow a 28' camper about 8 times a summer for 30-300 mile trips (reason for the increase in power). I want to avoid the drone that I've been reading about with some set ups. I also am considering a CAI. I've considered the Flowmaster 50 series and the Roush "legal" system for exhaust and Roush/Airaid CAI. Your suggestions are all welcomed.

You know that 5.0 Mustang sound, kind of the deep throaty sound? That's how mine sounds. Magnaflo SIDO, AF1 cai, and custom tuned by Bill C (gryphon). At idle it just has a real soft but deep tone. When I get on it screams but it doesn't scream "Hey listen to my obnoxiously loud sounding exhaust" but rather more of a high-end performance sound.

If power and drone is a concern, Slowmaster is off the table.

Realistically, you aren't going to gain any more than a handful of ponies from JUST a cat-back. You might notice some gains if you couple an exhaust with an intake, custom tunes, but you won't feel anything by itself.

Since you live up north, a pre-made stainless system would be best. Don't want it to rot out within a couple of years. Magnaflow and Borla make great kits, even though they are priced pretty high.

I agree fully, the Magnaflow kits are more affordable but the drone can still be there when the trans is stressed. Borla cat-back with provided 19" ProXS muffler.

You can also go with a SI/SO Pro XS and run a Y pipe after the muffler for duals. The SI/SO will be a 14" body.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to check out Borla. Be nice to hear the systems in person.
