Maggy Y-Pipe done!

Well, after reading a few other threads, i decided to go ahead and replace the restrictive y-pipe with the Magnaflow 2 1/2" version.. the muffler shop did a great job! Such a nicer transistion now.. i'll post some pics when i find the camera...
sounds a tad bit deeper.. maybe a little more low-end grunt.. hard to tell with the Gryphon tunes...
very happy overall!

where the driver's side merges into the passenger side- it actually inhibits passenger side flow as it goes into the gases of the passenger bank, maybe jesse will post a pic of his oem y if he has it.

One side is, the other is more like an effective 1-1.5"

This is old news - where have you been?

For a 2004? The OEM is improved over the previous-gen trucks, but these nice smooth transitions are still desireable.

... depending on the intermediate pipe transition you have/are planning....

All in the name of efficiency - every little bit helps.

Good job!

Yeah, no doubt! I don't have any pics of the "before" transition, but i'll post some of the "after" at lunch... it definitly sounds a little deeper...
I just feel better at how the transition looks. The factory part is so restrictive...

Bummer about the smooth bend waves, but still thats not half as bad as the left bank merge in on the Y pipe, very nice!

Darren, yeah, i was never able to find a shop here that does mandrel bending. I probably could have requested they use a pre-fabbed mandrel bent elbow, but i figured, this truck is mostly stock minus the tuner and exhaust.. it's not going to amount to a hill of beans difference overall performance.. overall, it's way better than the factory roadblock... only cost $55 to install took less than an hour... very happy.
