Here is my FX4 with true duals, X-Pipe and 11" MagnaFlows at 2.25". I also have an AF1 CAI and tunes from VMP. The truck runs great when towing my 4000 lb boat and just tooling around town.

My exhaust man said he did not recommend 2.5" pipe except if I was planning to add a SC. He also said the X-Pipe was needed when moving to true duals. I have been very happy with this setup.

Sounds like your guy actually knew what he was doing. Very few guys that do exhaust work actually know the mechanics behind it.

damn, i wish i didnt stumble onto this thread... I am getting my set up installed wednesday, I was originally going with 2.5" true duals, I dont tow or anything but I hear everyone when it come to the low end on these 3v 5.4's... so my set up is magnapacks 14" bodies and 2.5" in/out with magnaflow xpipe 2.5" aswell. So what i gather from all the posts in here is that 2.25" is the better way to go...? like i said i dont hual and im not driving 500hp...

You may feel a slight loss on the bottom end, but not much to worry about. The sound will make up for it, and your WOT passing power will we boosted.

No, he is not a member. He is an old hot rodder who likes outlaw sprint cars with the big fins on the roof.

I think he does custom exhaust as a way to stay busy in between his personal projects. He has reasonable prices, so I will keep using him until he retires.

The x-pipe is behind the front cats and as close to them as possible without creating a tight bend for the piping. My guy does all of his own bending, so the aluminized pipe comes from his shop. He convinced me there was no need to use stainless unless I was planning to move to a state that uses salt on their roads in the winter. Plus, ss piping is more expensive.

True, but even here in GA I see cars/trucks riding around with rusted out exhaust pipes, especially around the pipe bends. A nice thick coat of paint will help it last longer, but one day holes will form from the inside. I regret going that route on mine, but next time around it will be all stainless and mandrel bent.

After 4 years and 50,000+ miles in Texas, the exhaust still looks and feels solid. My new Raptor 6.2L just arrived at the dealer this week, so I will be selling my FX4 long before rust becomes a problem for me.

If you live in a state that uses salt or if you plan to keep your truck for 6 or more years, then stainless will be a good investment.
