2.25" vs 2.5" true duals
back in 04 when i originally dualed it- did it in 2.5, that lasted a month-dropped down to 2.25,not only did it move my tq considerably down from the 2.5" , it gained considerably , especially from the 3" siso oem, so i can say i compared aples to apples...
I think the bends make a bigger difference then the size of pipe. You and your buddy might have the same truck, same motor, same headers but if the pipes are not identical it will sound different.
When you went from 2.5 to 2.25 did ya notice any difference in sound or how loud it was?
The tune will play a huge roll in how it feels also. If the truck is tuned to work with a more aggressive exhaust it will run better and be more crisp. An untuned truck with an exhaust will be good but not optimum(the tranny shifts will be sloppy, too early and weak).
An open exhaust will only hurt low low rpm. Really if you're into just gaining power for low-end then shop for a good single but you are restricted as you rev up then. It comes to what you want in sound and performance. Of course we all think we made the right decision

I'm not saying you don't lose but there's way more variables that are not considered. Gears, tire size, tune, gears in tranny(yes there is differences), hell you can even say what rims(weight??) and so on.
Jeff

Don't forget about the x-pipe.
