F150 true dual exhaust coming, question time.

Ok guys heres the plan, I recently bought an '01 F150 supercab 4x4, went to the muffler shop today and talked about exhaust. I've decided on deleting my rear cats, running true duals, h-piped up front with magnaflow 11 in. body mufflers at the back and 4x18 in. slash cut tips 90ed behind the rear tires. Now my questions are 1) Am I choosing the right mufflers, I want it pretty loud but not as loud as my straight piped 4.6l and not to much drone in the cab. 2) Will my check engine light come on? They say it will at the exhaust shop but it didn't on my '98 with the 4.6l when i cut the rear cats out.

Any other helpful tips or suggestions would be appreciated. The truck is stock mechanically wise at this point, no chips, tunes, or intake modifications.

I think this setup is very close to what darren had on his before he switched to the bullets, his truck sounds great from what I can tell from the videos.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You will get a CEL most likely. Install MIL eliminators.

You've chosen my previous exhaust. You will like it, will be a little louder with the 2v Triton and the less sound-proofed cab of the '97 - '03 model. You may need mils as Mig said since '97 - '03s are a hit & miss due to whatever emissions package it came with.

See the Prev. Magnaflow exhaust in my signature.

It'll be a little choppier due to the H-pipe, but still sound great.

My Borla's are similar in sound to Darren's 11" Magnaflow mufflers.

Thanks guys, I wanted an x-pipe instead of the h but they told me it would be way more expensive. I've got to provide the mufflers which I can get for $69 apeice off ebay, if anyone knows where they can be found cheaper that would be nice (they are magnaflow part #11366 i believe), and the ballpark estimate he gave me was $500 for everything else, sounds a little steep but thats alot of pipe running true duals and stainless tips aren't exactly cheap. Can't wait to get it on, hopefully sometime next week.

You can get a SS X pipe for like $40 on ebay, but I would stick to the H. $70 each is a good price per muffler. $500 not including the $140 for the mufflers, or including?

You can buy your own tips to save money also and he is charging you alot. If you are deleting your rear cats you can sell them or he can lower the price if the shop wants them.

Check out performancepeddler.com for your mufflers, tips and X-pipe. Be sure to use the "clubgp" code to get the real prices on the parts.
