12" Bullet 3" catback

Hey guys. So like the title says I think I'm finally going to move on an exhaust pretty soon (I know I said that a long time ago but I pay for my own college, cut me some slack). I think the ideal set up, since I want to stay with SI/SO, will be a 3" catback system with a 12" Dynomax Bullet. What do you guys think? Anyone have any videos or sound clips of this?

Also, if anyone has one to sell let me know.

P.S.-Anyone know all of the parts I will need to do the swap to a 3" myself? I'll prolly just dump it to save some money.

I recommend either dumping it OVER the axle with a 3.5"-4" tip or out the side to save money on pipe if your worried about that.

Out the back 45 degrees

Out the side

x2 on no dumping, have a shop fab and install it all, done in an hour tops.

Here's what I did for my d.i.y. exhaust, but I used a 16" body Bullet. I strongly suggest NAPA clamps. I also used Autozone clamps, and they were a hassle.

Part numbers follow the key ingredients:

2.5” exhaust clamp
Reducer from Y-Pipe 41973
3” exhaust clamp
3” dia length of tubing cut to fit SUM-640030
3" exhaust clamp
3” I/O by 16” body Dynomax Bullet 24219
3” exhaust clamp
scrap piece of tubing from above - cut to fit
3" exhaust clamp
3” turn-down tail spout 42448

I also have a hanger (35103) bolted to the front bed cross member (no drilling needed). I salvaged a threaded insert tab & bolt from the stock hanger and there was a hole for the tab on the cross member.

I got hung up and had to scratch my head for a second on the diameters. The straight section is 3" OUTSIDE dia. The Bullet is 3" INSIDE dia. I originally planned to use butt joint clamps, but that plan was quashed by the pipe sizes. It worked out fine with u-bolt clamps after wrestling the pipe into the bullet by 2".

^ Go to the shop. Having it welded in is the ONLY way to go.

I would weld them in myself. We have our own shop here. Tractor repair business. And im a pretty good welder.

But if I go the dual route I will have a shop do it. Theres a shop here that will run a dual Flow setup for 250 and thats what I want.

Good price?

Yeah, it's starting to seem like a little bit of a hassle to try to just clamp everything and do it myself. Will most likely buy the muffler and tip and just have a shop do the rest.

I spent about $120 plus clamps. I shoulda had it welded in. It sounds great, but it could look better - even though no one looks up my skirt.

Overall, I'm happy with it. One day I made up my mind that this was going to be what I was going to do. I didn't ask around much, just did it since my mind wasn't going to be changed. Do what thrills your heart.

Several of us have been down that road just to have the same issue revisited later on. For me, it was some cheapo grille and my first exhaust. Now everything gets meticulously planned and blah blah blah until it happens.

No. When the 2 pipes from each side come together (Y) is where i changed the piping to 3"...through the bullet and out to a 3.5" tip

Does 3" pipe actually make it sound better, or would mine sound fine with the stock pipe size
