hi flow cats
Exactly, Meineke doesn't need your money enough to risk some fine. Joe Blow's Muffler shop needs whatever they can get to stay in business.
CEL = Check Engine Light.
To the OP (Original Poster), why are you set on keep 4 cats?
I had no problems cutting off the Y-pipe and going true dual. I didn't opt for the hi-flow cats at the time, though I'll probably be throwing those on in the next year or so.

To the guy that thought I was from CA...Im actually in NY
Im not "set" on keeping 4 cats. I have been looking but cant find a shop that will let me leave with less than 4 cats. The best I have found is one that will swap my cats for high flow cats if I bring them in. He also agreed to install the shorty headers so I guess Ill be ordering them this weekend

These are the headers I am thinking of going with. Looks like a little less hassle than the longtubes. A little heavier than most other brands, good price, and it seems like the SS is the only way to go. Overall a decent deal. I really need to get this started even if I dont do it all at once. These leaking manifolds sound awful. If the concensus is that the 94106 cats is what I need to replace the rears, then I will order them at the same time but maybe there is a better place to get them than Summit. Any input would be much appreciated.
ok let me ask this then...According to magnaflow's info, the test weight of a vehicle is calculated as GVW (7700) + curb weight (5300) = 13000 X 1/2 (6500) The test weight for the 94106 is 6000. Is the limit only an issue in the minds of the EPA or is this really a concern for the owner of the truck? Somehow I have the feeling that it isnt really an issue. Have those of you that have just replaced the rear cats with the magnaflow 94106 noticed a sound difference? any sort of performance difference? They dont really seem to be listed as a high flow converter. What makes them the converter of choice? They also dont seem to be listed for the 2000 5.4. Maybe I am missing something. I know I am asking a lot of questions and probably repeating some of them but I really want to be sure I do this right the first time. Thanks to the gurus for your help.
