Exhaust Questions & Options
I've been burning thru these forums up for the past weeks on how other F150 guys are running there exhausts. So i have a few questions for those cheifs out there. Scenerio is i want to run a true dual exhaust system from OEM cats all the way past the rear axle where i will dump into a 45. (I hate pipings exposed i love the clean look)
1.) Pertaining to everyones piping sizes i know the OEM size is 2 1/2" but why not increase to 3" from the cat? Won't you get a better flow with up sized pipes to push more CFM of exhaust out especially if your running a Cold Air Intake
2.) Everyone suggest to run a X-pipe in-lieu of the the stock y-pipe, and then run in to 2 dynomax bullets. My question won't you get the same results from runing a dynomax Ultra Flow X (http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?muffler=ultraflox) which will clean up all offsets and extra piping needed to run the x-pipe & 2 bullets.
3.) My ending question is that i'm thinking if i run 3" pipes from the cats all the way to Dynomax ultra flow x and then dumping both pipes past the rear axle on each side or same side. ( I don't think i will have the room if i do it same size)
Any input would be greatly appreicated.
Thanks

Unless your running single pipe, 2.5" should be the max pipe size you use for duals. Unless your supercharged, 3" dual pipes will kill your low end. It will sound nice, but your truck will be a pig. Dual bullets will be louder than the ultra flow X, but its your call on what you wanna run. Stick to 2.5" pipe from the cats back, into the ultra flow, and out to your exit. Consider putting 4" tips on when your dumping it AFTER the axle to get the echo effect.
If you have a stand-alone X-pipe located close to where the old Y-pipe was, exhaust scavenging will increase and you will get more power and torque.
2.5" pipes should be the maximum for true duals. I would even be hesitant to put 3" true duals on a blown engine.

I would replicate Fx4lifes' if your going to dump.

How do you want yours to exit then? Cuz thats a pretty damn clean job.

gotcha. You can dump an exhaust with tips not showing, if the work is done right.
Do the same thing to the other side. http://www.indylawrencewoods.org/IMG_3674.JPG

Yes single 3" is healthier to run than single 2.5".
No, dual Bullets is not even close to equivalent to the Ultraflow. Bullets will crack concrete, full exhaust that is. Much better sounding mufflers too.
