Muffler ticking,poping

I've purchased a used 2006 F250 SD. I had to take it back , they let me drive off with lumpy tires and while i had it for the day a heat shield piece somewhere on exhaust pipe fell off. Coincidence? I also noted after the truck is run awhile and you turn it off, the muffler pings and ticks while cooling down . Is this common? I asked them to check out the exhaust and make sure it's not partially blocked or anything that would make it super heat up. I'm just a little leary of the "169 point ford certification " I was sold on from this dealership. They've been good ( 2 new tires, reattached piece, and told me all is well with exhaust) but i was looking for another opinion before i pick it up again

It's just condensation collecting and hitting hot surfaces. It's normal.

Very common. It'll quit after 5 - 10 minutes.
