Question Full-length Vs Shorty Headers, Stock Y Pipe?

Im looking to buy new headers, guess im leaning towards PaceSetter Performance 70-2229 full-length.
Had some questions.
Stock headers are shorty, will my stock Y pipe be able to work any way with the Full length headers?
or just need a new one? or some modifications?

And any suggestions of other decent priced ($300ish) headers i should look in to

Unless you are modifing your engine, I wouldn't spend the money on headers. I have never seen a dyno sheet before and after that showed me they were worth it. My experience has been that they are not a good bang for the buck. Especially if you are not going to a true dual setup and things like that. The numbers just are not there.

The better bang for your buck is a good tune. Either a custom tune or a handheld with a custom tune put in it.
Just my 2 cents.

OBX(knock offs of dynatech), Coated Pace Setters, and American Racing are your best bet.

OBX's have shown 40+rwtq and nearly that in HP under the curve. Peak was increase was around 10rwhp.

Most kits come with a Y pipe to hook up to your factory cat back.

If I wanted to keep the factory Y and back, and use some magnaflow high flow cats to stay legal, do I have to do shorty headers?

I would go OBX, they are about $550 after shipping and are exactly the same as the $1200 dynatech except no cats. You can buy high flow cats and have them installed instead of the resinators that come with it. They are designed to go into the factory Y pipe set up.
