Magnaflow Question

I just bought an '07 KR with low miles and want to do some mods that will help me boost performance and still maintain the class of the KR. I owned an
'01 Lightning before this and installed a Magnaflow 15714 side exit cat back with 2.5" pipes and loved it.
I'm undecided as to which Maggy cat back will work best for mr on my KR, the 16523 with (2) 2.5" pipes or the 16518 with the 3" single pipe.

Any experience or feedback on these systems would be welcome

Thanks...

16518 http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/d...rtnumber=16518

personally i like 16523 it would look really clean and elegant nothing that would be an eyesore...19518 is not my taste lol...altho i did consider it at one point in time

The Single would have more low end power, but the duals would have more high end power.

I am going to ask a stupid question: Is this a complete bolt on application? Would I need anything else? Is this a system that I could install from the comfort of my own garage (ie no welding necessary)? TIA

All Magnaflow catbacks at bolt on, yes. But be warned: IMO, catbacks are a COMPLETE waste of money. Our motors don't need mandrel bending. We aren't pushing 500+ horses. AND - when I had mine, my pipes weren't bent correctly. My passenger side tip didn't come out straight. I tried many time to rearrange the pipe thinking it was me, but never did it work. Ended up paying a shop $60 bucks to bend the back 2 ft. of each pipe anyway.

Go custom, much cheaper, better options, and just as much power!

So what does it cost to have a good custom performance exhaust system installed these days? Are the chain shops, ie: Meineke and Midas capable of doing the work or should I look for someone local who specializes in in this?

Thanks

I would shop around and get prices. Depending how you want your setup and how much customizing you want done. Also what kind of pipe material you use, ie stainless, aluminized. buying the muffler myself, I bought the tips at the shop I had it done at and for everything ended up spending bout 300.

Having a shop custom fabbing your exhaust is cheaper and gives you more options then buying a bolt on kit. 3" for single pipe, 2.5" max for duals, and low end tq gains will be at 2.25"

Find a shop that does custom work, other than midas.

I love my Magnaflow 16518, very easy and clean installation and it sounds great. Just my two cents.

think outside the auto chain places they are not to be trusted, look for places that specialize in performance,
