Cutting my pipes?

So I have finally gotten tired of my exhaust and have been going back and forth on all my options.....a couple of guys have told me the cheapest and easiest way to get louder was cutting my pipes. Is this bad for my truck in anyway? Will it really increase my loudness? Can this be illegal? I am an exhaust "noob" so I have no idea about anything...

Its called straight pipe (no muffler). Its legal and is fine for your truck. Its the loudest you can go without touching your converters. Id put a dynomax bullet on there instead.

I wouldn't go straight pipes. Throw on a 12" Dynomax Bullet and call it a day. Sounds much better, loud and deep, and the Bullet is only $40.

You can do the installation yourself. All you would need are three clamps, your Bullet and a small section of pipe to make up whatever length is left after you take out the stock mile-long muffler. If you buy the parts and do install, cost would probably be around $75 if you got good clamps. I don't know what cost would be to go to a shop but a guess would be $100 and welded in. ??
