True Duals = DRONE
Why is it that I love the drone while everyone else hates it... does anyone else like that sound? I mean whats the point of having exhaust for sound if you yourself can't enjoy it? I mean I don't want it to drown out the sound of everything in my truck when i'm hitting 2k, but a nice little rumble kicks ***.
i have that little short flowmaster SI/DO with hollowed rear cats id say right at 2000rpm it is unbearable it feels like my skin is being vibrated off.. like theres a feather in my nose hairs ticklin the **** outta me cuz my noze vibrates so bad.. im ready for a big SI/SO flowmaster and im thinkin of dumpin it out in front of the passenger side rear...
I don't know if this post will be of any help to you. But, if your muffler had more pipe between it and the engine, it would change the rpm/drone range to a higher rpm. For instance, I have the lake pipes on my F150. so I had to do some fancy plumbing to get them locate where I wanted them. So I have about 3 more feet of pipe on each one before the exhaust gets to the muffler.
So that changes the drone sound to a higher rpm range. It is now at about 2500 rpm before it gets noisy, as compared to a1800 to 200 rpm range you have.
The reason it makes a difference is the resonance of the exhaust (echoing ) back to the manifold that cause the vibration. Much like running tuned headers, they have their torque peak with a certain rpm range.

Thanks for all the feedback . Is anyone running the Flowmaster 70 series or the 50 series big block mufflers. These seem to be quietest ones that Flowmaster has to offer . Or how about the Flowmaster Hushpower mufflers ??

They flow awful. Get a 24" Magnaflow. Keep your performance, deaden your sound.
I am currently studying up on exhaust modifications myself.
openclasspro#11: would you happen to have any pictures of you exhaust setup? I would really like to see how your setup is arranged. I would appreciate it.
Anyone else have a picture of their setup?

DarenWS6,
Dang... quick with the photos! I like it.
I read that you have 2.5" true duals.... is the stock pipe size 2.5"? Or was a reducer required somewhere?
Where is the x pipe located in your system? I am assuming it is just out of the picture view on the engine side of the mufflers, right? Did you have the x-pipe made, or buy it somewhere.... if so, what brand is it?

If I ever re-do this exhaust ( which I doubt since I dont plan to have the truck after 2011 ) i'm going to have it re-done LEVEL, with 2.25" piping and a true X pipe, the way I should have done it in the first place.

punisher - if ya towed every weekend you wouldn't - especially with a 4.6
