Cheapest way to get a decent exhaust!

Heh, I love my exhaust out the back, but never had any of the above problems effect me *shrug*. I've got mine very close to flush, only about 2 inches, past the chrome bumper. I did hit one of the exits, thanks to my moms beautiful placement of random **** in her front yard in the middle of winter that knocked it off of the hanger and pushed it in flush with the bumper. I brought it back to the shop and instead of replacing that whole side for 200.00 or whatever I just had them slightly bend it back and rehang it. You can't really tell unless your looking for it.



It looks much more pronounced in this photo due to the shade hitting on that side.

^^Or a dynomax bullet...what about just cutting the pipes? alot of guys have told me that is the cheapest way to up the rumble and sound...is this bad? thanks for the help so far!

You can go straight pipe. Perfectly fine. Just wont be as deep as a bullet. That is the cheapest way to do it.

Another added benefit is it enables you to effectively carry out road rage on the imbecile who is texting and weaving at 17 mph. You simply go around and punch it as your side exit exhaust lines up with the idiot's open window/eardrum and watch the expression of shock as you pass. Well worth the gas wasted.

Does a cat-back mean NO muffler from the cat back? Is this ok in NoCal? What's better 2.5" or 3"? If all this effort is to help unrestricted exhaust flow, are we not missing the headers here - possibily the most important componant? Thus would new headers be a good idea too? Costs? Sorry for so many questions - this is a great formum!!!

Cat-back exhaust kits replace everything in the intermediate pipe to exhast tips on trucks. The general reference in 'cat-back' is everything after the cats, to the back bumper, gets replaced.

That will not sound impressive, or perform as healthy as running full 3". That muffler is the Dynomax Ultra Flow. What I suggest is the Dynomax Bullet muffler. Swap out your muffler with one of those but the 2.5" model part #24215.

Speaking of Heads-Back vs Cat-Back...... whats the typical performance gain from say... Cat-Back to adding some new headers over the stock ones?

I've got Cat-Backs right now and wonder the performance difference/benefit from changing out the stock headers to work with my existing cat-backs. This may be a deal-breaker for OP as well. I personally wouldn't do anything to my exhaust unless it was at least Cat-Back, adding a partial pipe with a tip JUST for sound seems like a waste of money to me. Spend the little bit extra and actually benefit your trucks performance IMHO.

A single or double pipe that makes a "B-Line" for the end of your truck..... AKA, no Muffler, no nothing, with the exception of a tip. This one has mufflers on them, which you can have and still have it be straight but.... I like it without, unless you really need to dim the sound, you'll save cash not having them.

Cut the old muffler out & fab it up, it will.
