Fail. Your turn down is giving you a higher pitch sound than it could have... Cut it off or run pipes out the back. Just my opinion of course.

Fail? haha...

The turn down allows the sound frequencies to be re-directed toward the pavement, which in turn, bounces from the pavement to the underside of the truck, etc. This equals BASS, which is something i was after. Plus, i like the look of the turn down through the pass. side wheel well.

the oem y is the weakest link in the exhaust fyi-the driver's side merges into the passenger side asnd inhibits flow.

Apparently you have NOT been there and done that. Cut it off and you will see my point and reconsider your theory on "bass bounce back".

Av is correct. I recently have heard three different mufflers on m.. a truck, and open outlet, they sounded much better and audible than with turn downs put on, sounded just a pinch quieter with the tailpipes back in. Its not very well recommended to run an open muffler, and the inspection station may not agree with it, but it does sound great.

So what is wrong with cutting it back enough where it opens to 3" allowing you to weld a 3" pipe from it to the muffler?

I never said "been there, done that".

If what you are reffering to makes your exhaust note louder, i really don't need or want it at this point because its loud and bassy enough.

Honestly, for now it is good. When i put long tube headers on the truck i will definitely be more concerned about the y-pipe, etc.

I still need to get a few better videos, still kinda waiting on my custom tunes too...

For the performance advantage he does. To accomidate for proper sound, he'll need a little bit bigger a muffler.

With LT's i'll probably have to run a pipe over the axle to quiet it down some, if thats not enough then a small resonator will have to be put on.
