i wanna add a chrome exhaust tip to my 09 4x4, should i saw off a certain length before adding it, will it take away or add to the new/subtle rumble of the 09s, and any suggestions of what brand to buy

Depends on the length of the tip you install, but you usually should. A tip with bare pipe inside it looks ugly, and takes away the exhaust tip echo effect.

Use your best judgment when you have the tip in hand and you will see where you will want to trim it down to.

To verify what I think you are implying, you want it to sound exactly how it does as is with no audible increase, correct? If so, it wont be all that noticeable, especially inside, none at all. Outside, maybe 3% louder, nothing serious.
