Need new exhaust setup

Had a Magnaflow muffler i believe it was the 18" version.

i did like the the tone of it , it was loud enough for me without being annoying.

However , while driving down the highway today, heard a rattling coming from underneath the truck. As i was pulling off to the first possible exit, i noticed the rattling stopped, so i looked in the rearview and there goes my muffler

pulled over and took a look underneath , the welds from the hangers broke clean off.

luckily no one was behind me wen it broke off.

So right now , im running no muffler. i absolutely love the way it sounds, but its abit too loud on start up.

Any recommendations , from the exhaust guru's on something that has a bit more of a "throaty" tone than the magnaflow , with out being too loud. Basically want the sound i have now with no muffler, but a bit quieter.

Im not really looking for a whole "system" just want the muffler than just a turn down tip.

Magnapacks or Bullets. SLP's could also work, but those might be too loud.

If your muffler fell off do you have any pipe after the end of the intermediate pipe? If not then you could probably just run 3" pipe the rest of the way out to a tip behind the tire. This would quieten it down some on the inside. At least that's my understanding of it.

Have you seen the exhaust poll? Check some of those out and see if you like any of them....find out what the guy is running. I can tell you now that Bullets are loud. As are SLPs.

Although, Dynomax does make an 18" Bullet. I think Jeff (CarolinaBoy) is planning on running an 18" Bullet. It should sound very similar to the 12" but be more to your noise level.

Yeah the pipe is still there where the old muffler attached. would just extending the pipe towards the rear really quieten it down a good amount ?

Darren im assuming that part # is the right inlet/outlet size i need ? 2 1/2" & 2 1/2"

Thanks for the help everyone, im a noob when it comes to exhaust

If you went 18" I think you'd be the first one on here to run one, unless I'm mistaken. You'd beat Jeff to it.

Summit has them for the same price and they are very fast with shipping since they have so many locations. I ordered my exhaust stuff and it was at my door the next day, with regular shipping.

Yes, the 16" would be quieter. Sorry, for some reason I was thinking the next Bullet up was 18".
