dont get a K&N! get an amsoil if your wanting a reusable filter

and if your wanting a CAI for the money the spectre is hard to beat!

yes sir!! well if i remember accurately it was like 15 for the recharge....and honestly i feel the truck runs more smoothly with a drop in paper cuz the "spray" dirties up the MAF so if that happens im sure theirs a chance of some of the spary goin inside the engine? i may be overthinking, but i went back to paper like 9000 miles ago lol

i had a K&N for about 2 years..then i kept hearing about oil going through to the engine..so i cleaned my MAF and put a motorcraft back in and havent looked back! i am thinking about getting a amsoil one though..they are reusuable for 100k miles and use no oil.

and yes oil does go through to the engine!

^ i knew it!! common sense lol...if i ever go to a custom cai itll be a sb with the dry filter, but i havent looked into the amsoil....i went back to the motorcraft one, because the truck is under warranty (cough yea rite ) so i figurd if anything went wrong ill take back to ford, but instead at the same time bluejay posted the how to clean MAF thread and solved my issues imnot going back to oiled filters either

I've had a K&N drop-in in my truck for over 80,000 miles and have never had one single problem with any of the old wives tales you read about on the web (and in this thread). Follow the cleaning and oiling instructions and you'll be fine.

I've more than saved on the cost in not having to purchase junk paper filters.

i understand your point of view stealth and i respect it, but for those couple thousands of miles i had the kn in the truck it just didnt seem as convincing, and my idle has smoothed out quite some since taking out the kn, and it was oiled from the box i never oiled and put it back in the truck....just my experience and im sure their is plenty of money saved which is why i opted that route in purchasing it

I've never had any idle issues, except when my engine hydro-locked from a stuck open fuel injector.

Of course I failed to mention I have PHP custom tunes for my Edge, which takes into consideration I have a K&N drop-in.
