HELP ! Power-washed some of the undercarriage heat shield off !
#1
Hello All,
1st time poster on this GREAT forum site and have gained some good info from here so far.
OK here goes...Ran truck into a ditch other week. While power washing the under-carriage of my 20067 extended cab 4 x 4 , 5.4 L, I blew off about 12 sq/in of the silver (heat barrier, blanketing that is above/beside the trans wiring etc. on the passenger side near the cat converter. (I'm not talking about the real heat shield). It appears to be attached by the factory by plastic body push in rivet plugs.
I don't understand why Ford would install it there as it's not waterproof anyway. Not saying that the pressure washer didn't smoke it...
NOTE: This IS on th e underside of the floorpan not in the cab.
Anyway. I want to replace the damaged part. I found some on SummitRacing.com but don't know which one is like the OEM stuff. Is this it ?
Anyone work in a Ford Dealer parts department ?

Also are there any ideas on how to attach it ? Mechanically, (buy the adhesive backed type), ty-wraps, rivets, self-tapping screws...
ANY suggestions on this would be grateful.
Also, the stuff that was blown off by my carelessness looked like jute almost. I suppose it's fireproof fiberglass or something.
Well, Thanks alot !

I know what your talking about and neither of your links show the right stuff IMO. Although, it would most likley be sufficient.
It's like a weaved thermo blanket of sorts. I can't find the part, I'd have to call the dealership.

It's takes time for the right person to come along, you should know that and then some, given your back ground.
No offense.
If someone knows, you'll get an answer. There's many very helpful people on this site. I would be a little more patient, it don't hurt. I think
