Magnaflow? Flowmaster?

I want let my 5.4L 330 CID motor be heard, but I don't want to wake up my neighbors, or blow my eardrums while driving.
I merely want to replace my stock muffler with something a little more throaty.
What aftermarket muffler is going to be my best bet?

That is up to you on what sound you are going for. The best sound from a muffler replacement usually will be a 12" bullet muffler, or a magnaflow magnapack, and sometimes a 14" oval magnaflow.

I have not yet heard a Borla replacement, it has to sound great too!

I have a maggy right now and I like it. It's quiet enough at cruising speeds, but will wake the neighbors if I jump on it. Flowmasters are for the chevy guys; I've never liked the sound of flows on these trucks. I'm putting on true duals with slp shotgun (loudmouth 1) resonators when I finish putting the new motor in. Check out youtube to get an idea of what the different ones may sound like

As someone that has had both a straight through (MBRP) and currently has a 40 series Flowmaster on the same truck I don't feel that the flowmaster has robbed too much of my power. And I would tell everybody if I did. I honestly feel very little difference. People can argue dynos all they want but all I have to go on is a real world comparison.

thats all i gots to go on is real world comparisons. ive went from flowmasters to straight pipes twice and gained a little torque and top end both times. i dont know much from stock to flowmaster change but i know they aint the best option for performance thats possible. but hey if ya like the sound of em aint nobody cuttin ya down on yer own opinion

Nor, did I think that anyone was cutting me down. Mine was only a differing opinion so people can make an informed decision. I'm used to people ripping Flowmaster, . Buttplugs, SlowMaster, etc. I've heard it all on here. It doesn't bother me. Like I said, in my experience the flowmaster hasn't robbed "too much of my power". Is it noticeable? Yes, but barely. And that's what I want any other reader to know. That way they can weigh their own variables and make an educated decision.

rllackey28- I listened to your truck, both setups.. both sound great.. which one do you like more on your truck?

I have 14 inch magnaflow now, I really like it, you can hear it of course but Im really thinkin of replacing it with something louder in deepness and aggression. I always hear people knock flowmaster but to me they have the best sound on just about everything, I really like the chambered sound they produce .. trying to figure out what I should try that would be louder than this Maggie maybe a Super44 3inch SI/SO?
