Please explain... I don't see it! CAI..

So I have read several posts with people claiming that the stock air intake system on the newer F150's is a pretty good system... And I must say, I don't see how! Have you guys seen the intakes? The general design looks good. But, there are so many little thingamajigs hanging off the intake tube.. It can't be good! There Must be a better option! What are your thoughts?

Hello & Good day!

It''s not a claim - it has been tested. Refer to Bill Cohron's tuning tests on the 2009 trucks.

Have a gander: ==> https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...highlight=2009

You certainly cannot tell by just looking - those devices are among the very reasons that makes the truck so quiet. They are called Hemholtz chambers or resonators, and they suppress certain frequencies known to induce excess intake noise and 'drone'. They hurt very little perf-wise.

Stay stock on the intake ( except fer the minor tweak as per Bill), - save yer $$$ toward a custom tuner - THAT WILL make a real differerence. Forget exhaust for perf as well -again, the stocker is quite good.
