i'm looking to set up a dual exhaust system in my 04 5.4. i've currently got a 3" magnaflow installed, but am looking for a better sounding set up. I'm going to go with flowmaster 44's, and 2.5" all around.

What im trying to decide is between either an H or X pipe. What are some of the benefits/drawbacks of either of these? how about sound difference?

 

I don't agree with the "sounding better" part but... An H will be a little louder and pop and crackle more, where as the X will be smoother and more "tuned" sounding. I prefer an X pipe.

 

The X-pipe has been dyno proven to produce more power and torque than the H-pipe. The only benefit to the H is that it has more of a "straight pipe" sound, but every thing else is purely subjective. Even though I have a H-pipe, I recommend the X.

 

Super 44s sound better than Magnaflows? huh.... thats a new one.



But as stated, go with the X pipe for best low end torque.

 

i know it's been beaten to death, but it's simply a preference.

 

Id ditch the flows and go with a dynomax bullet or a cherry bomb extreme one chamber

are your 11" magnaflows the regular oval shaped maggies or are they the small round ones, about the size of a glasspack?

 

They are 4x9x11 oval bodies.

 

My Borla mufflers are 4x9.5x14".
