Question FLOWMASTER 17403 install question

This maybe a stupid question but I am trying to save a trip to the parts store. I have a Flowmaster #17403 kit I am going to install on my 07 SCREW with the 6.5' bed, the directions say to cut 15" off of a pipe (part # 26206) which is about 24" long....measuring from which end is my question? I am assuming that I want to keep the flared end but the instructions don't say.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Good morning! Welcome & How are you?

I'll try to help - we'll just let that youngin' Darren, our resident Exhaust Padawan, sleep in a bit

Please review the manual - I'm lookin' at it right now also (linky below)

Trim the REAR of the #26206 pipe - the front part is flared & you want to keep that.

You will be adding this extension between the #26202 inlet pipe, and the muffler inlet - flare will accept the rear of the inlet pipe.

The diagram on page 3 of the instructions are very clear.

BTW - cutting this pipe will remove the protective layer ( such as it is). You may want to treat it with hi-heat paint (the manual talks about this too).

Good luck - and please accept my heartfelt condolences on choosing a FartMaster kit. Bubba will be real happy, though!

You must have an abundance of low-end torque the rest of us lack that you can so easily give some of it up

Cheers!

Thanks . I was going to say the muffler inlet/outlets are flared, so that is where the bare pipe goes, flared goes to the inlet pipe, and install as much as possible and double check for length issues.

A bolt on cat-back kit that says you need to cut pipe... FAIL!

MBRP was the same way. Their kit fits the different wheel bases and you chop the mid pipe accordingly.

Thanks again!! The only good thing I can say about the kit is its on...and sounds good but it was a pain in the a$$ and the tip doesn't seem to fit right, too loose.
that stupid cut piece damn instruction don't say where it goes..but I figured that out.
My last truck I had installed a Gibson duel swept side and it fit real well, no cutting, just installed and drove off!
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FLOWMASTER!!! I learned my lesson

Excellent! You sir, are already ahead of the curve!

We can indeed work with that!

Darren is yer Go-To Guy - you can trust him to give you great advice.
Be advised - He does however, come with loyal and very vocal entourage - namely AV & Mr. P.

Me? I know exactly SFA about exhaust, trucks, or just about anything else, so you can safely ignore me....

Cheers bud!

Thats odd. They should at least supply the other pipe in the kit, but I guess they do what they gotta do.

They should have at least labeled it with stickers that label where to cut for particular wheelbases.

I'm a little biased when it comes to instructions...I write them for a living. When labeling everything with part numbers for inventory you shoul continue that practice throughout the instruction...assemble part #1234 to #1235...anyway wish I would have asked some questions on here before I purchased...I learned I guess thats the important part! on to the next upgrade...leveling the front end.
