Lol ok yea i know where you are saying now. Its where my pass side pipe routes out too. Like i said, it is very visible especially with your truck being lifted.
I know its hard to route it out, i even thought about re-enforcing the frame and taking a 3 inch hole saw to it to route mine out THRU the frame...

My pipe routes out right at the leaf spring perch, there is a little round area in the perch itself and on my screw, it ends up being perfectly aligned with how my pipe was bent and where my bedside is. Ill post a pic in a bit.

I think what you have in mind is probably the best way of achieving it. Heres a tip though, Paint all your tubes and angle work in a high heat satin black and clean up your frame and touch that up where needed. It will help to hide it.
