09 F150 Magnaflow 16523

I have an 09 XLT Screw 4x4 5.4L and am interested in the Magnaflow 16523 exhaust system (single input, dual output behind the passenger side wheel). Do any of you have any experience with this system? I saw a previous thread where the poster was not too happy with it. My questions are, how was the fitment? How much louder in the cab is it (I have a cap on my truck also)? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't remember the thread you are talking about, but after reading other peoples experiences, I ended up putting on part 16518 si/so on my 09. I think there was too many fit issues with the new 09 body style and other Magnaflow kits. All I can attest to is I'm glad I went with the kit I did. It fit perfectly without any hassles and it sounds great.

I remember the thread, the guy had minor fitment issues but he got it to fit. He needed to twist the muffler a little and it worked. The spare tire heat shield got in the way too but I do not believe he removed it.

Unfortunately I can't tell you how well it installed or how loud it is due to the fact that the entire exhaust is sitting in the box in my garage. It's been way too cold and windy to install it lately. When I get it installed I'll post with my review.

I do recall the thread you were referring to. The guy did need to twist the muffler but I think there were issues with the final hanger not lining up with the final mount. We'll see........

Yeah, definitely post an update and some pictures. I'm hoping that they worked the bugs out and that when I'm ready to pull the trigger it is an easy install.

Well aparently they've worked all the bugs out regarding the fitment issues with the 16523 system. I installed it this morning, great quality, it fits perfectly and sounds amazing. Not too loud until you give it gas and it comes alive. Highly recommended!

Will post pictures when I get a chance......

Just installed this exhaust this morning on my 2010 S-Cab FX4. Installed easy, no problems.

PROBLEM

Sounds good at idle, a little to loud (for me) accelerating, way to loud w/drone at highway speeds.
Could I have a leak? How can I check for leaks?

Muffler specs (5 x 8 x 18in. Dual Outlet Muffler, 3in./2.5in. System, Dual 3.5in.)
Would another manufacturers muffler bolt in?

TIA

Highly doubt its a leak, the 09+ are just much louder trucks now a days, and your tolerances for noise are low, bolting in a longer length muffler like the 24" body would work, you'll need to chop 6"s off the midpipe and mount it in.

Thanks for the reply's, who makes a 24" SI/DO in the same in/out sizes of the Magnaflow?
I don't see one on Magnaflow's or Borla's sites.

Magnaflow #12388 is a 5x8x24 with a single 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2" outlets.

Yes, thats what was implied in my comment if you didn't see, your kit has the 18" Magnaflow muffler, sell it and buy a 24" Magnaflow.

Thanks for the part number, since it's not going to just bolt in I'll stop at a muffler shop at lunch and see what they want to install one.
Should I expect any drone from the 24"?

I was looking for the Raptor sound, I test drove one and it sounded perfect.

Stopped at a local muffler shop at lunch. Those guys are not touching my truck. LOL, I did ask a few questions though.
Anyone have any experience with Dynomax mufflers? It looks like the model 17776 muffler might just fit in place of the Magnaflow.

DynoMax® Super Turbo™ performance mufflers exclusive patented flow director design channels exhaust flow and eliminates turbulence. The large internal flow tubes improve exhaust flow and reduce backpressure. Each muffler uses fiberglass matting technology to absorb unwanted interior resonance while maintaining a mellow performance tone. The "Pure Unadulterated POWER" of DynoMax® Super Turbo™ mufflers are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty and exclusive 90-Day Performance & Sound Guarantee

Does Magnaflow have a Sound Guarantee?
