^ That is a joke. That super turbo doesn't flow near as good a Magnaflow "straight threw" muffler, and it sounds like crap. I was just working on a fox body that had a pair of those on it, and I didn't like it at all. It is even hard to get a mustang to sound bad too. It even had BBX longtubes and no cats, and it was still really quiet.

But, if you really want them, he will sell them to ya cheap!

A Sound Guarantee doesn't mean a damn thing either. There are more Magnaflow systems on this site than anything else probably. That speaks for it self...

 

I installed one of these exhaust kits on my 2010 FX4 yesterday. Overall I am happy with it. Its a little loud, but that may just be because I have not owned a vehicle with a performance exhaust since 1985.

My truck is brand new, so removing the factory exhaust was a snap. You do not have to cut your factory exhaust to remove it if you drop your spare tire and remove the spare tire heat sheild. Rotate the stock muffler counter clockwise as you lower it and slide it out towards the passanger side.

Installing the new exhaust kit was easy. The only tools you need are a socket wrench, a 15mm deep socket, 13mm deep socket and a 10mm deep socket. A rubber mallet is usefull also. If you remove the two rear hangers and install them onto the rear pipes outside the vehicle it is much simpler then trying to slide the support bars into them.

Dont tighten any of the clamps untill you have every thing lined up and straight. The tail pipes may look crooked or hang low/high untill you get things lined up.

Linning up the exhaust kit took most of the time on my truck. But once I got it done I did not have and clearence problems with the spare tire, or heat sheild. The two exhaust tips look good, they do not stick out to far or point down or up. They do normally angle down a degree or two, to allow water to drain. I have the Ford molded splash guards, so I had to cut a notch out of the inside of the right rear because it was against the tip.

You do get a fair amount of drone in the cab from this kit. partly because of the 18" flow through muffler and partly because Ford puts virtually no sound insulation in the cabs of the FX4. Since my truck is still new and verry clean underneath, I may try the Ziebart spray on insulation. Dont know if it will help much though.

I did not notice any low end tourqe loss, as others claim. Infact I noticed the opposite. But I did disconect my negative battery cable too. This caused my engine to "re-learn" and adjust to the new exhaust.

So overall, Im happy I got this.. And since I did not have to cut my old muffler and tailpipe assembly into peices, I can always put it back on and sell the Magnaflow kit if I get tired of the sound.

 

ok im thinking about putting a magnaflow exhaust on my 2010. but one thing is confusing me. do you not need to weld up the new exhaust? you say all you need is basic tools.
on my 2007 i had a shop just replace my factory muffler with a 18" magnaflow and the welded it in. sorry for the newb question, i just havent messed with exhaust too much.

 

I recommend buying mufflers and tips, and let a shop do the rest.

 

I Followed Skippy Dunbars advice and my install was a breeze. Removing the spare tire and heatshield was easy and created a lot of room to remove the old exhaust in one piece. The installation was pretty straight forward, took my time to line everything up before tightening all the clamps. Love the sound, loud on acceleration then settles down to a nice tone when cruising. I felt a definite difference on acceleration, less lag. To early to see if I'll see any milage gains as I've only put about 50km on it. I disconnected the battery so the truck is still relearning my driving habits.Other mods i've done are 2nd USB cable run to glove box , replaced factory speakers in doors (kenwoods and Jbl ), K&N airfilter drop in replacment, Took off big ugly XTR 4x4 stickers and installed weathertech wind deflectors. Love the Truck no complaints. Thanks for the good advice Skippy

 

It is not neccesary to weld the exhaust. The clamps they use today are much better then the old style "U" shapped ones. You can get it welded by a muffler shop if you like, but you better make sure everything is aligned and the tips are pointed in a direction you are happy with because once they weld it together, thats it...

 

I just returned from a roughly 5000 mile road trip, after installing the Magnaflow 16523 exhaust kit on my 2010 F150 FX4. I was towing a 3000 lbs camper trailer. The only complaint I have is the droning when pulling hills. Even though all my friends say that this kit sounds awsome when heard from outside the truck, inside the truck the droning sound is almost unbareable. Especialy since I was towing a trailer. The droning sound is worse when you have the windows up, then when they are down. I checked the entire system to make sure I didnt have any leaks and none were found. Everywhere I went I was getting compliments about the way my truck sounded and when driving through tunnels or underpasses where the sound reflects in a way you can hear it, the exhaust system sounded pretty sweet. Just be aware that this kit will produce a droning sound inside the cab, that is going to take some getting used to.. The stainless steel pipes have all turned a blueish-bronze collor, except for the tips, which still shine... Overall Im happy I got the kit, and Ive gotten used to the drone in the cab. I solved the problem with the rear tip being a little lower with a combination of re-alignment and a large breaker bar..

One off topic complaint: The tow-haul mode on Ford trucks totally sucks compared to all the GM's Ive owend. Ford tow-haul has an engine breaking feature for going down hill. The problem is that if you touch your breaks, your transmission seem's to shift into first gear and your RPM's shoot up to 4000+ RPM's... This scared me, so I stopped using the tow-haul mode and just shifted into 3rd gear when descending hill's...

 

^ If you wanted it quiet, then why didn't you just leave it stock? To make it noisy on the outside, you have to tolerate it on the inside some too.

 

Just installed the 16523 maganaflow on my 07. Install went fine the one thing I am worried about is the clearance with the spare tire (about a 1/4 inch) no heat shield on my truck. Should I try to get more clearance or a heat shield to protect the tire? Other than that love the exhaust.

Word search drone on this forum. I had a 5X8X24 with annoying drone, and went to a 5X11X22 which reduced it by about 80%. My truck cap further dampened it so it is no longer noticeable. I now have a meatier sounding truck than stock which is what I was looking for. I read where someone suggested putting a bullet before the 5X8X24 to eliminate the drone.

 

I have gotten used to the drone and it doesnt sound that loud to me anymore...! Or maybe i have gone a little bit deaf...? I get nothing but compliments on the sound of my truck. Also on the dual pssenger side pipes, as they are something different then your run of the mill split rear tail pipes going straight out the back, wher the left one is always a bit lower then the right one...

 

Just installed this exhaust on my truck tonight. One snag with the install but other than that went OK. Sounds great!! But...

This kit is loud and it certainly drones. I had a 14" SIDO on my '05 F250 and this truck is louder... I'm pretty surprised, these newer trucks must have freer flowing cats.
