Help with muffler

Hi I'm new and have a few questions to ask. First, I'm thinking of getting a cherry bomb glasspack for various reasons. I would like to know wether there is a difference in the size of the muffler itself. I mean is a short bodied one quieter than a longer tube? Also is there a difference between clamping it in place or welding it? I'm on a budget and can clamp it myself but I can't weld it. Is it worth the money to take it somewhere? One more thing, what's the real difference between a resonated tip and just a normal one? I have a really cheap resonated one that is bolted on, would a more expensive one do more? Thanks for anything anybody has.

Not to be rude, but common sense tells you that the longer the glasspack, the quieter the sound. More packing, more louvers, more disturbance to the sound waves.

Stay away from glasspacks anyway. Get a dynomax bullet muffler instead. The resonated tip will quiet it down a very little.

I would check the manufactures websites to answer your questions. This site is a great place to bounce ideas around but always do some home work on your own as it's the best way to get the answers you are looking for.

Magnaflow.com
Dynomax.com
Flowmastermufflers.com
Borla.com

Enjoy...
