Trying to decide on mufflers
Trying to decide on mufflers
I have a 2009 SCrew XL with a 4.6. I am going to put true duals with an X pipe, that much i have decided on. Where I am having trouble is what mufflers to use. I have always been around flowmasters, and love the sound. If i go with them i will use the super 40's. I have always been a fan of flowmasters, because like i said thats what i have always been around, but recently am starting to lean toward magnaflow. If i go with magnaflow, it will be the 11 inch bodies (11366). I am mostly concerned about sound over performance. Does any one know anything about flo-pro or flow tech? are they worth a damn? Would it be better to spend the extra money and go with flowmaster or magnaflow?
i've spent alot of time on youtube, thats why magnaflows are starting to grow on me. i like the way darrens set up sounds. i love the sound of flowmaster, thats what every one i know has always used. i had them on a 99 chevy. but maggies keep sounding better and better. thanks for the input.
Not quite there Ty, Flo Pro is more comparable to Magnaflow, they are straight through designs. About the same sound, but not the lifetime warranty.
To the original poster, I have an opinion and an suggestion. 1, forget the Super 40s and go right with the Super 44s for the aggression sound with the deep tone. and 2, how willing are you to put up with inside noise? Because the 14" body 4" round mufflers from Magnaflow sound very good.

Oh thats right, the V vorce mufflers are chambered. I keep mixing them up, I keep thinking V Force is its own brand. Thanks for the correction.
They still product straight throughs, and those stupid twister glass packs.

i don't mind some interior noise. i watched darrens vid's from the interior the 11 inch sound good, and tidnt seem horribly loud. i looked on summit and can get them for $69 apiece. the flows are $89. but the flow tech are around $44. i just havent heard much about them. i've been a pretty loyal fan of flowmaster till now. the more i listen to the magnaflow the more i like it. i just want to make sure i dont wind up with buyers remorse.

please please please dont go with flowtech. I have a buddy with a 07 4.6 and the guy at the muffler shop talked him into getting a flowtech. he went back 2 days later demanding he take that POS off. sounded horrible.
I am a flowmaster man. Mostly from my mustang days but I too from being on this sight have started really enjoying the sound of magnaflow.
I will be going true dual in a few months and will be going Magnaflow
Straight through mufflers just sound better on these Ford modular engines. Magnaflow, Borla, theres no way they can sound bad, only quiet if you get too large of a muffler. Chambered mufflers just dont impress me on modulars. The exhaust pulse from the cam isn't enough to make the Flowmaster chambered mufflers sound good.
You have my dream truck, everything, the paint, bed and cab size, trim package, everything.. luckly SOB!!!!
And modular is the V8 design of these engines. There are push rods, and V8s, it is very easy to tell the difference between the two when listening. Push rod is old school and a better performing design, but modulars tend to pack better low end power and torque numbers, aren't as easy to perform out cheaply neither.
