I think i made a mistake

Hello all. i had some exhaust work done a couple months ago and it goes like this

2.5 inch piping
no cats at all
2 Flowmaster super 44's dumped before the axle

Now. in my state i don't have inspections and don't have to worry about not having any cats on. Well, this is just a little too loud for my likings. if i added two of these would these make my exhaust a little less annoying and maybe fix my check engine light? The shop that done the work put these little things over the o2's sensors that look like spark plug non-foulers and it didn't work on keeping the CEL off. any ideas?

not a good idea to mess with o2 sensors like that. Your best bet is to either swap in maggie high flows with an x or h pipe, or put the stock cats back in and leave the rest. Your truck will still be loud with your stock cats in, just no where near what your hearing now. The hi flows will be the happy medium.

I would put high flow cats in it to quite it down a bit. I wouldn't put stock cats in. I don't think you will like it.

To keep the CEL off you will need to tune it or buy o2 sims. You need a tune anyway with out cats for it to run right.

Put hi-flow cats in and have the rear O2s mounted after then, no more CEL. And add tailpipes, unless you dont like the tailpipe & tips look, it will be slightly quieter inside for you and a little louder outside. I dont see how the X pipe can pop more because H pipe crossovers are nearly no crossover performance and they crack more.

Thanks for the replies guys...you all are a ton of knowledge!

what i meant with my x pipe was popping..i meant it made a loud cracking noise about 2-2800rpm and was very annoying, but i'm happy with the h pipe. darren, do the 02's need that spark plug non fouler looking thing or does it need to be drilled and tapped? also i do have an edge i guess that's what you guys meant by tunes. I'm going to send it off to php soon so hopefully they can adjust the stuff there

Keep in mind if you run tail pipes, it will change the sound of it completely...

i might look into doing some tips too, the only thing i don't like about them is that i will see some that will have rusty spots all over them and i think that looks very trashy. what are some good tips to go with?

i just went with slash cut 3.5"x18" chrome tips.

if you dont want rust, get stainless steel.

Stainless is the only way to go here. Rolled tips look good. Mine aren't rolled, but they were giving to me, and I think they look okay. I do how ever, much prefer the straight cut tips over the slash cut.
