exhaust pipe size

I currently have a stock exhuast on my 05 f150, and I am looking at a saleen exhaust, but my question to all of you is: the one that edlebrock sells is 2 1/2 in and out. my stock system is 2 1/2 in 3 out.

what will that smaller diameter do to the motor if anything...and the saleen is dual exit from the muffler.

thanks for everyones help

the smaller pipe on the exit means more back pressure, on trucks you want the right amount of back pressure for low end torque. is the edlebrock kit a dual exit, since the saleen is a dual exit and 2 1/2 you should lose any low end, and might get alittle higher up( i noticed a big difference in my top end when i put my catback on).

go with what you want.

On my 06 Where the Y ends I have 3" pipe with 1 Super 44 muffler exit dual 2.5, and have not lost any low end torque, I can spin my factory 20" wheels. Hope this helps.

Correct, 2.25" is a bit more raspier with straights, thats about it.
