4.6L exhaust

I just bought an '01 supercrew 4.6L. Only have had diesel before so I'm new to this gas truck deal lol. Anyway, I'm goin to take it the the muffler shop in the next week or so. How would ya'll suggest I get it done? I was thinking true dual cats no mufflers, but not sure really. I want it to sound as loud as I can without it getting too high pitched. I like the deep sound. Let me know what ya'll think.

true dual cats? All trucks come with 2 cats per bank, with the acception of 97 - 05s which all come with 4. No mufflers with all stock cats will sound good, when you want a little more volume & crackle remove the rear cats and you will get it.

Straights wont give you a very deep sound though, I would go with 2.25" true duals with Dynomax Bullets, with 3.5" tips out the back ( straight or 45'd ).

I had a '99 4.6L SuperCab and the only thing I had done to it as far as exhaust was putting on a 40 Series SIDO Flowmaster. I thought that it sounded great. People knew it was me before they saw me. Don't know if that's good enough for some but it was good enough for me. Some...many don't like Flowmaster to each his own.

By precats you mean just two of the four cats right?

Loud as possible, but still deep?
I might try rear CAT delete and 10 series Flowmasters. Not much db reduction, but adds some flowmaster deep tone to it.

Thanks fellas for all the thoughts. I am thinking no mufflers and cut rear cats out with 3.5" tips 45 degree. What about 02 sensor? Will my engine light stay on?

Thats case 2004s ahve the rear cats after the rear O2s. '97 - '03 have them after the rear cats and have then mounted in the rear cats on LEV models.

Yep!

It cackles a lot when cold, but when warmed up sounds awesome... Very loud and aggressive!
