So......to get the MOST performance...I need to go with LTs. Crap---they're more expensive! Well I guess I could do LTs, hi-flow Cats, and Magnaflow SIDO. That should be a decent gain huh. Then I have to save up again for a tune...then get a little more Hp/torque with the tune. --DirtySCREW

you might be happy with new exhaust and a programmer (Gryphon). later on down the road you can do LT's and just update the tunes.

well phatbak, i have a Exhaust manifold leak on my passenger side. I was gonna try and do it all at once and be done with it. Then I could save for a Gryphon and get even better results later---DirtySCREW

Pacesetter makes a 16 gauge aluminized kit for $299, and you'll end up replacing it every year.

Spend the money the first time on stainless steel ones that will last for life.

Pacesetter also makes a ceramic coated version that will resist corrosion and carries a 3 year warranty. The ceramic also keeps underhood temps down. I think they run about $400 or so.

Hey you , - yea that's not the only kit PS sell, - come to think of it, I didn't know Pace Setter sold Aluminize . ?

Oh well lol, - yea mine were $269.00 from seller Wolfgang (? not sure on the name , it's something like that) on ebay. This was 3 years ago, Wolfgang = ebay middle man w/good price and free shipping .

Anyway, their a heavy gauge steel , and about a foot ++ longer than OBX. The PS LT's are stretched out pretty good, long as heel,- hard to cram a cat in between the header and the intermediate pipe - no fricken room lol.

Pace Setters ~ LT's, - 2 years old in this pic, - Took the pic after threading the correct EGR pipe set and adaptor for PS's bunger -

-

New -

Btw , doesn't matter if their coated on the outside , stainless or what ever. That's for show, UNLESS , their jell or ceramic coated on the inside. These systems WILL rust from the inside out eventually. - It would take forever these heavy things to rust out.

Pace Setters - LT "Short Trip" headers. Not sure what they cost now tho, but the "Short Trips" is what I purchased.

Guys...NO DISRESPECT TO ANYONE.....but I've been told to stay away from OBX and pacesetter as they are "crap".

I DO NOT KNOW!!! and am trying to get accurate information. People's opinions are helpful but not as much as hard facts. I think its weird that I've been told that OBX & PS are junk when a lot of ya'll are runnhing them. I can't find anything for my SCREW from Hooker. That's right folks.....DirtySCREW can't find a hooker...hehehehehee

But seriously I'm not finding f150 headers from hooker, edelbrock, and can only find shorties from JBA. I don't want to break the bank but want a quality product and am willing to spend a little extra to get it. And I'm BACK on the fence reference to SIDO or true dual with Xpipe. I was told my a mechanic friend that the TDs x-piped "balanced" the engine and was over all better.--------------DirtySCREW

Well I hear great things about PS LT headers. You can buy a pair of PS LT for $220 and then you could paint them with ceramic paint. I'll post a link to the LT $220 and I'll post a link how to paint your LT cerramic paint.

Lincoln----I can't use the $220 pair as my truck is a 03, not an 04. According to PS site, they are $290 for my 2003. I really like that article on the coating....however, how would you do LTs. I also do not have an oven that I could do it in (Sometimes guys you just know which battles to not even start :P) ---DirtySCREW

The Big difference in price is what's on the insides of the headers and gauge #'s. Dynotech and Cooks use a heavy guage Aluminum Composite, therefore DO NOT rust like metal ON THE INSIDE. That and their able to contain the heat, unlike the cheaper brands. You have to wrap them to better that. Hell, there's guys that wrap Dynotechs as well, that's a pretty big deal when maxing power after they heat up.

Like I said, the outside is just for looks. The stainless OBX's look good for the price, but IMO, they went to thin and you hear to much exhaust noise inside the cab. They can crack to. I only went with pace setters because I was in a bind, my exhaust flanges rusted out and I needed to repair. Going LT'S was the cheapest route and the performance was just a perk, - I needed to use the truck ASAP. Pace setters was a better design as well. Their steel, thicker and longer, but yes, they will rust inside and out within time. I wish I could have purchased the Dynotechs, you get what you pay for here.

Anyone see that Cooks LT install 3 or 4 days ago on TopGear ? They did a LT install on TV with a newer Mustang. Took them a day, they installed, -went right back to the Dyno, first thing they did before anything is dialed in for increased flow. They left out some things lol, but it Dyno'ed out + 45 hp when all was said and done.

It's really not a battle, that's just the potential LT's have over Shorts. Yes, you do have to know who to listen to

BTW- Those LT PS's are called "'Quick Trip" headers. Not sure what I called them before?

I have only seen 1 OBX header crack and that was on an escort at one of the welds.

The mustang you are talking about was a saleen supercharged mustang and that was over a year ago. They added 43hp to the wheels after tuning on the dyno. It's Kooks not Cooks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aYv7Ih29zA
