well if they end up looking ok then they will stay on, if not, sell them or whatever. my trans am already had the rolled style tips, and even tho i like them, i wanted something a little different. i like that these ones flare up so i can have them level or at an angle and they will still be pointed at a good angle. if they dont look good, they will come off and it will just be the 2 pipes.

Do you notice any discoloration of rear bumper / tailgate / etc after many miles?

Back in late '70s to early '80s I had a '67 Chevelle SS with 454 and tri-power and I made some nice tips, 2 1/2" singles into twin 2 1/2" 24" long tips. Hung them out back (4 tips total) in place of sigle tips (two total), looked great but I noyiced that after driving 50-100 miles and getting out, the rear bumper and trim showed discoloration. I'm sure it was also on the paint, both the blue and the black panel between the tail lights. I figured it was because of the reduced velocity of exhaust gases those last two feet in the doubled pipes.

I reverted back to the two sigle tips and no more discoloration.

Eventually I went back to stock exits just behind the wheels at a downard angle, no chrome.

Still have those big long dual tips in the basement though.
Thats what made the discoloration, a big block with no catalytic converters. These Ford Modular V8 engines burn clean, and the cats filter everything bad, so its just a carbon scent if anything. I barely ever see any soot on my tips, and I pulled out my rear cats even.
