size and offset

Can someone please tell me what specific size and offset I should be looking for on a 2006 supercrew F150 5.4? I am probably going to go with the SISO flowmaster 50 series or possible the 40 series. The 40 series is a bit louder correct?

Thanks.,

I have 2.5" piping run to a si/do 40 series. (not positive its 40 series, darren is going to confirm it for me tonight but we are 98% sure) Here are some vids of my exhaust so you can hear what it sounds like. Keep in mind its a si/do.

Thanks for the reply but I cant see any of your videos.

Anyone know what I would need for stock location and size. I want to stick with it coming out one side. I ordered the 4x18 magnaflow rolled tip and now need a muffler.

You will need a 2.5" in/out muffler with both ends offset.

Are you positive about this? My stock muffler appears to be straight in and out no offset. Its on a 2006 supercrew with the 5.4. Just want to make sure I order the correct muffler.

Also, I believe I am going to go with Magnaflow. I want something not too raspy but more deep and mellow and obviously not stock sounding. Noticeable but not tacky. Do you recommend a muffler part number from magnaflow? Just the muffler, not going to do the complete catback. I ordered a single 4x18 rolled magnaflow tip for it to come out in the stock location. Like your but only one side.

Others please chime in with opinions.

Thanks.

Well if you are positive its near straight offsets in & out then no I am not positive. I'm positive on 04 - 05 32" mufflers it is, my OEM was offset to the right inlet, offset to the left outlet. Use your best judgment and crawl under with a tape measure and make some measurements to verify the muffler offset you should order.

You sound like you would be quite happy with the Magnaflow 18" body. Hear it mostly when you accelerate and start, low interior noise, and a deep clear sound.

When you figure your offsets out, heres a list of 18" Magnaflows, just pick the one with your proper offset.

Do you know the difference between the 5x8 and the 4x9? Also I notice that some are round and some are oval. Three chamber, straight through?? SS? Turbo? BTW, upon further inspection, I believe you are correct, the offset/offset will work.

Thanks for all of your help!

I searched 18" magnaflow on ebay ( http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=18%....c0.m14&_pgn=2 ) and the really have me confused.

Is this what I am looking for : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...Q5fAccessories

Is the "turbo" muffler going to give me the sound we are talking about?

5x8 has only a slightly deeper note, 4x9 has only slightly a little more volume, the difference is very hardly between the two.

Round bodies are very loud as ovals are very deep and smooth sounding.

Do not even bother with the 3 chamber.

Turbo is just a fancy made up name not by Magnaflow, random sellers use it to sell.

SS means stainless steel, which all Magnaflow products are. They are natural stainless ( T-409 ) and polished stainless ( T-309 ).

Yes that part number 11266 muffler you listed will work. I would be edgy on whom you buy from though, Summit, Performance Peddler, and Jegs are guaranteed trusted sources.

You're awesome! Thanks for all of the help! Performance Peddler is probably who I will go with.

Thanks again.

Too late for me now. I already ordered it. I can't imagine it making too much of a difference since the stock pipe is what 2.25"? So the only difference will be for 18" of muffler.

I think the stock diameter is 2.5", but you're still going to get way better flow through your new muffler. The first reply to your post mentions a SI/DO muffler and I think that's where all the 2.5" talk stemmed from. I believe, and I could be wrong, that 3" would've been optimal for a SI/SO setup, but don't worry, it'll still sound sweet:

With a 3" he would have had to change his intermediate pipe out and have a new tailpipe bent because a 2.5" system qwith a 3" muffler is interupting the velocity, which will slim down some torque. Its always best to stay with 1 complete size, whether it be true duals or especially a single exhaust. For a muffler change only, 2.5" was the right way to go.

As stated, it should sound ok. Ive run Magnaflow in the past and was pleased. As mentioned before, I bought the same tip as Darren, so I want it to look just like Darrens except with one coming out the passenger side. Looks perfect to me.
